This is crap and I DO NOT approve. Let me live my own life how I want.

My god, I honestly don't know what to say to you posters. It only affects restaurants. You want your fix of some trans fats, go eat some crisco. What restaurants serve affects everyone and not just you. What you cook at home, affects only you, so feel free to do whatever.

I NEVER cook at home. I eat taco bell / other fast food several times a week for lunch. For dinner, I go to restaurants or other fast food. I do not cook at home. Now they are telling me I cannot eat as I once did. If someone doesn't want to eat trans fats, have them not go to the restaurants that use it. If society really wanted to rid them of trans fats then let the economy do it, don't let the damned government control every facet of companies.

How in the world did you twist your mind into thinking this prevents you from eating at Taco Bell?

Taco Bell have already removed all trans fats from their foods. You fail at not being a moron.

Trans fat typically lasts longer on the shelf than other fats, but doesn't necessarily have a better taste. Shelf life is why restaurants like it. They don't care about people's arteries.

0g trans fat chips still taste GREAT to me, and I don't think anyone except restaurant owners will get the short end of the stick on this deal.

What is sad is that most people have never worked in fast food. The oil can get pretty damn disgusting, we would clean out the fryer like every 2 months or so. The oil would go from a clean yellow to a very very dark brown to finally black, we'd add a chemical to make it last longer, fry for a few more weeks and then finally clean it out. Extremely disgusting stuff, discouraging the use of transfats and effectively reducing shelf life is a good thing for the consumer, that way you have the 'clean oil' more often. Personally I don't see why they can't replace the oil on a weekly basis or earlier than that since oil is extremely cheap.

As an avid watcher of his show, I wonder what Anthony Bourdain feels about this.
