Today's puzzle is simply brilliant but I connot for the life of me get 20 across. I have WSIW_XIT if any of you have finished the puzzle could you please spot me the lone letter that I am missing or advise me if I have a letter wrong. I'm thinking the 4th letter may not be a W.

Thanks in advance.

I know this is not the answer but I'm going to take a shot at it: WYSIWYG.

Let me make one thing perfectly clear, what you see is what you get. :p

That's what I was thinking, but that means he has two other words wrong. :)

It isnt. G and Y upside down are not actual letters.

The other answers relating to the theme (upside down and spun around) of the puzzle were:
SNOINONIXIW = MIX IN ONIONS
NOMIMOMI = I WON I WON
NONIWOOZ = ZOOM IN ON
NOISSIWNOOW = MOON MISSION
HSIMI = I WISH

All the answers are upside down and backwards. Get it?

BTW this may not be todays actual puzzle in the NY Times. It's in my local paper so it may be an older puzzle.

Any other guesses.

If that is the case, then your T at the end would have to be wrong, since it would not work upside down.
