I'd make them pickup garbage, maybe 500 hours of it. And not in some place where there's one wrapper every 20'. Take them to some shithole where it's going to seriously suck.

So, this guy owns two houses. The questions I'm asking are why does he need to stage a fund raiser and ask others to volunteer to fix up this house? Why does he expect the community to pay for this?

Help him repair it? Haha

By the fact he posted the teens' names on the net is awesome. I hope he can't plain text them so search finds them better.

It is amazing the stupid shit teens post online. Aren't these idiots aware of google? A link I found when I googled his name and house was that some teens' parents are looking to get him for posting the names. I am guessing legally he was allowed to though.

What I don't understand out of the linked articles is what action if any the police are doing. In Huntington Beach Riots several weeks ago the local Po Po made good use of Social Media to track down several people pictured vandalizing property. Also does this guy not have insurance? I am fairly sure that this would be covered under most home insurance properties. You pay the deductible and get everything fixed. You file a police report and move on. Hopefully you then look at having additional security measures installed on your property. Especially if it is a second property.

If I had a kid who pulled shit like that I would beat him, repeatedly.

I seriously doubt the parents have any grounds for their law suit as the photos and names were on the public domain (no privacy issues).

Those kids thought it was cool to party and trash this man's house, in the end even if they don't do the right thing and come forward/help repair the damage they cause this will follow them. Who knows it may cause them to not be accepted to the college of their choice and/or be hired.

If any of the girls who attended this party got raped at it I wouldn't have any sympathy for them.

Going to a party and getting drunk / being stupid is still no excuse (or defense) for rape. Whether you have sympathy or not, rape is a crime and the people that do it need to be locked away.

Nor would rape be an excuse (by the victim being raped) to get out of breaking / entering /destroying property of this man's house.

I'd give them two choices.

Get your ass over here and start fixing the shit you broke or I press charges on every one of you idiots that decided it'd be smart to be in pictures/videos of this going down.

Then I'd also start suing some fuckers. The second I got a letter for one of these little bastards parents I'd be on my phone with a lawyer.

What I wouldn't do is, is ask for fund raiser or for help to fix it (people that weren't involved). It doesn't look like this guy is hurting for money, and really just seems like a bitch move.

Lemme give you another cliche to ponder: rape is NEVER ok.

I didn't say it's ok. I said I wouldn't have much sympathy for the victim. I don't think that people deserve to die for DUI either, but when a drunk wraps his car around a tree I don't feel bad for him.

Would you go so far as to say that they would be "asking for it" if they were at the party and got raped?

This is the school I work at, one of the girls involved was the middle school principal's secretary's daughter.

I'm actually surprised this is such a big news story, this happens all the time.

Possibly. If you choose to hang out and party with criminals (which is what these teenagers are) you are setting yourself up for bad things.

You're associating rape with property crime when its much closer to murder.

I don't see anything wrong with him asking for help. If people so desire to help, so be it. OTOH, I would think if he can afford both houses he can afford the insurance and deductible on said insurance.

Likewise, if you ever get assraped by some huge thug straight out of prison (or in..) I will have no sympathy for you.

He is looking to save the kids.
