I noticed these two executables in my NWN2 directory. I have not found anything from the devs on the forums at NWN2, I was curious if anyone knew what the difference in them are.

Theories on NWN2 forums:
[*]It is a compatibility issue, the older AthlonXPs do not support SSE2 and thus nwn2main_amdxp.exe is "compatibility mode"
[*]amdxp.exe is the 64bit build for Athlon CPUs
[*]amdxp.exe is optimized for Athlon64 chips rather than just AMD Athlon XPs
[*]Some claim a slight performance boost on dual core amd CPUs when using it, but at unknown IQ cost

Note one has to rename nwn2main_amdxp.exe to nwn2main.exe in order to use it, it appears.

thoughts? Anyone know of a benchmark program for NWN2?

You must *really* hate NWN2, eh? ;)

I really like NWN2, it is the best RPG that I have played since NWN1: Hordes of the Underdark and probably my favorite game of 2006.

SecuROM 7 was put on there by Atari, not the people who made the game and no matter what kind of crappy DRM they do to it, it does not change the fact that it is a good game........ and a very buggy game.

I didn't expect securom to be a bad thing...I always thought it was much less evil than Starforce.

My own rather limited testing of the two didn't reveal any difference that I could perceive with an X800 XT-PE video card. Incidentally, I also would be interested in some sort of in-game benchmarking setup created to run in NWN2.
