From the airshow?

Some private pilot wasn't paying attention and violated Air Force One's airspace or something. It caused a couple of fighter jets to scramble and there were sonic booms near Seattle.

I heard nothing, but I'm in Vancouver and am in an office building.

lol.. Hasn't the shuttle re-entered over the Pacific Northwest? Seems like I remember a big hubub about it. I think we were in school when it happened, so it was weak and lame. Figures.

lulz. It'd be awesome to see them shoot it down while out on a stroll in Seattle. XD

Of course, the guy would probably die... that's too bad. :p

Edit: It was a private pilot flying into Kenmore Air harbor from eastern Washington. he is in a world of shit now.
You are required to get a briefing of conditions and notams prior to any flight. The presidential airspace was a TFR that a briefer would have told him about, if he had called.

Private pilot in an iddy biddy cessna was flying around up by Lake Washington, two F15's were scrambled from Portland, Oregon - Flew up north and intercepted.

I was in Centralia and the building got shaken pretty badly. Tacoma got shook up pretty hard too. The Pierce County 911 line got shut down because there were too many calls coming in.

Fun shit!

Friend's wife: What's a sonic boom?
Me: When something breaks the sound barrier.
Friend's wife: I know, but how does that work? Can you explain?
Me: It's like a disturbance in the Force.
Friend's wife: ah, ok.

What... really? From Portland? I definitely didn't hear it, but I was inside a court house AND I was stuck in traffic blasting Barry White...

Usually I do hear the jets if I am anywhere near I-5

Awesome!

FAA doesn't let you boom over the continent.

How does general aviation come anywhere near wide body flight level?

Ah, the plane was sitting on the ground. Makes sense.

Apparently got within 8 miles or something like that, but by the time the jets actually got up there the pilot had landed out of the restricted airspace.

The Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) is tailored to take in wherever the president may be traveling on the ground. sometimes there are several different TFRs over the period of a day, all described in the briefing materials.

I saw this on the local news and as usual they go and interview some local with a 4th grade education that thought that someone was bombing them.

I live a few miles from downtown and it made the pictures on my wall rattle and shake. Just before the first boom I heard a ton of sirens going off, must have been a coincidence, but they kept going through the second boom. A lot of people in the neighborhood came out and wondered what was going on.

Combined with I-5 completely shutting down, all-day television coverage of his motorcade, arrivals, and speeches, I guess I'm finally realizing the wonder that is a presidential visit. We don't get them often here in Washington state.

Weird. Makes me think how much weirder it must be to actually know or be the guy.

Yeah, obviously this guy didnt check his sh!t like he should of.

Most private pilots dont actually call and get a briefing because the online briefing system is so much easier now. However, the TFR would have been VERY VERY well outlined.

This is another reason i like flying glass cockpits; TFRs are automatically on my map

Someone I know in the area was in a meeting for work and everyone got up wondering what it was, and he just said " Damn Jap's are back for revenge"

He now has a "diversity meeting" with one of his managers who is 1/2 japanese.

LOL.
