What's the exactly purpose of this option? Does it give additional FPS?

MS released a patch quite awhile ago to fix some potential instability issues in 3D games seen on a few Socket/Slot A Athlon chipsets when used with nVidia based graphics adapters, I imagine that's what the referenced 'fix' is for... but I'm not sure. The NVMax Help file should tell you.
