Get your DSM to run 14's:
1) Enter vehicle
2) Put key in ignition
3) Turn key until engine is running
4) Allow engine to get to normal operating temperatures
5) Move vehicle to a location where a 1/4 mile run can be done
6) Rev engine to 4500 RPMs or higher
7) Launch
8) Shift at proper shift points and in a timely fashion for each gear
9) Run until 1/4 mile point has been passed

Results: 14.xx 1/4 mile ;)
Note: this assumes DSM is of the AWD variety

BTW, I've read that article before, I believe it was in a 2003 issue of SCC. Had me laughing my ass off :)

AWD adds like 800 lbs to the car, doesn't it?

I've beat a Eclipse GST with a Prelude b4. stock prelude. :D Oh and the guy was a boy racer. granted he prolly wasn't that good of a driver. fun race though. damn close.

AWD does NOT add 800 lbs to a vehicle ;)
Here are the stock weights for DSMs:
Note: 1st number before slash is either the Laser or Talon model (whichever happens to be lighter, depending on year) and 2nd number after slash is the Eclipse model (always heaviest)
1st Gen base model: 2530/2550
1st Gen non-turbo: 2690/2712
1st Gen turbo: 2745/2791
1st Gen turbo/AWD: 3073/3108
2nd Gen non-turbo: 2842/2906
2nd Gen turbo: 2921/2998
2nd Gen turbo/AWD: 3157/3234

As you can see, AWD adds anywhere from 236 lbs to 328 lbs (depending on make and model), which is more than made up for by increased traction and handling :)
Oh, and the guy you raced was not driving the AWD model nor was he a good driver, more than likely ;)
