They support DirectX; they use the same base drivers.

Hmm.. that's interesting. A lot of the time workstation cards don't support DX.

Also, they are tweaked for performance on 3D workstation programs, not games.

If you're going to play games, I wouldn't get it. If you do 3D workstation stuff I'd go for it.

yes but what does it compare to?

I can find no reviews or anything

You must be kidding, there are reviews everywhere. Go to google and search for quadro review or quadro benchmark. Anand has even reviewed some of them in the past.

If you want most of the quadro benefits buy a GeForce4 Ti 4200 and use softquadro4. It's a software hack that gives most of the quadro performance and will save you hundreds of dollars.

Ditto.

Those cards have special drivers. The drivers are certified to be correct. When you build a building or structure in a cad program the pixels have to EXACT and accurately represented. In a gaming card its not so important if this wall is exact to this wall. Its not going to crash the game.

The cad as everyone has said are tweaked for workstation app performance not game performance.

Actually Id say no. Umm Id use a Quadro FX 2000/3000 or a WildCat, before Id use a X1. They both are better than the X1 or Z1.

The drivers are tweaked, as is some of the hardware, for CAD, DCC and other professional visual programs. They support D3D, as does FireGL X/Z 1.

GeForces and Radeons even with software hacks cant do everything their brothers(Quadro, Fire GL), can do in CAD or DDC.

The Quadro FX 3000 is expensive, as its $2000-$2300 depending on model. But the 2000 can be had for $1250 if you shop around.
