Note: You must still use two graphics cards that have the same GPU. For example, a GeForce 7800 GT must be matched with another GeForce 7800 GT (not with a GeForce 7800 GTX or a GeForce 6800 Ultra).
Mix and Match Graphics Cards with Different Clock Speeds
Example: You can use a higher clocked GeForce 6600 GT 550/525 with a standard clock GeForce 6600 GT 500/500.

looks like if they are both 6800's you can mix them.

I don't think that still applies, seeing the GS has 12 pipes and GT has 16...

The PCIe 6800GS can't be unlocked, iirc it is a 12pipe part period, no disabled pipes present to begin with. The AGP version unlocks because it is just a nv40, of course some have bad pipes and VS so unlocking doesn't get you a 6800GT/U, but others do.Originally posted by: unfalliblekrutch
what if you unlocked a GS, would it work with the GT in SLI?

Yeah, thanks alot guys for the help.
Have to try and track down a compatible 6800 gt, they seem to be hard to find with the GS out.

Just a suggestion, you might find it easier to buy a GS, sell your GT, and then buy another GS. Thats just what I would do. Hope you find what you are looking for.
You will need a pair of truly exceptional 6800GTs to beat SLI'd 6800GS's when both SLI setups are max stable overclocked.Originally posted by: Tanzi
Yeah, but two GT's are better than 2 GS's and I already have one that isn't even a year old yet.
Thanks for the reply though.![]()
