those are basically gtx's.nvidia are eager to clear out as many G71's as possible, cuase G80(8800 gtx is on the way). And not many are buyin the gtx's.
So they want to get rid of them quick. So the logical thing to do is to make a cheaper version. And sell, sell, sell.

Hey, this card looks awesome! Glad to see Nvidia dropping the price to meet the performance that you get. This 7900GTO is right on par--if not better with EVGA--than the price/performance of the X1900XT's.

With those prices, I'd have to go with 7900 GTO, but somehow your pricing seems off.

I can get X1900XT 256 MB for same as you listed but in CND....

I think X1900XT 256 MB should be quite a bit less if you look around.

Edit: LOL @ myself.

I am so used to ppl being American here, i think of things in American pricing.

I see you are in Canada.

d00d, get the 7900 GTO NCIX has for $270 AR :D
I'm extremely tempted to get it myself because of a few annoyances i have with my X1900XT.

I feel like a freakin puppet on a string. In two weeks, my purchase decisions have swayed from a 7950 GT > x1900xt > x1950xt > 7900 GTO.

This seems to be the deal to beat, so I pulled the trigger. It appears to be a 7900GTX in every way. EVGA's spec sheet puts mem at 1.2ns, so clocking it back up should be a snap unless they've screwed with voltage or something. First person to post memory oc's wins a prize. Here's a thread on EVGA's site to follow as well:

I think you made the right choice.

This card seems like a great bang-for-buck card right now, & you get a sweet quiet stock cooler, unlike what you'd have on all the others.

The 1950 stock cooler is sweet, the only reason it went into the possibilities mix. Didn't make sense to go top end at this time though.

The 7900GTO coming from EVGA is at an ideal price/performance/upgrade point. They'll make another coin if I step-up to G80. Of course, they knew that...

(feels strings pulling)

Yes, the X1950XTX cooler is pwnage.

I got mixed up when you listed the X1950XT
I didn't think there was an X1950XT.

Then what are you doing playing around with computers?

I'm still on the fence with this one. Pricing has been $250-$260-$265-$260... New GPUs maybe in a month or two - will it push down pricing or will these cards disappear? Will these be like 6800GS and stick around a lot longer than expected, and drop in price gradually? Will new GPUs put these to shame? Well, besides on power draw and heat output. :p

Next question is... will Newegg get these and beat ZZF's price?

I just ordered one of these because my video card just died last night. Did I make the right purchase? Please check out this thread.

Zap, these will go away. Same gpu, pcb, cooler, and memory as 7900GTX it appears. This gives EVGA, MSI, and whomever else jumps on board a way to get rid of components on hand. Once pcb's, gpu's, and other build components are depleted, this thing is gone.

It's perfect marketing. Not many people buying high end right now due to upcoming product launch. We get to bust a nut by getting a GTX for $260.00, and they don't take a bath on build components in stock...

I have been out of the loop about latest HD stuff. Is this the new high definition standard that uses HDMI connectors?

Heck two of those in SLI will beat a X1950XTX for about ~$50~$70 more and give better AA (Except for HDR+AA that is). Damn that's a great deal! Not too mention the clocks you could get with those would stomp a 7950GX2 for pretty much the same money. You can also sell one and keep one, sell both, etc. You wouldn't be limited to the pancake design of the 7950GX2. Being able to flash them to two 7900GTX's means that anyone with a 7900GTX can flash this GTO and place it with their card to get Nvidia's best SLI setup as of now.

 Nvidia

Its strange there don't seem to be many benchmarks, just a french site with funny numbers (7900GTO winning Oblivion?) and a review site I've never heard of. A good deal without a doubt but I'd wait for more benchmarks before pulling the trigger.

The MSI's 7900GTO version has already been released in Europe at least a week earlier than the eVGA's counterpart version of the USA market. That's the reason for the benchies you're seeing today which have mostly come from there.

Most of those who live in the US have ordered from ZZF or Mwave such as myself should start receiving their card as early this Monday.
