I remember a post telling that nvidia was going to launch the nv20 next spring....the reason was that they wanted to launch the geforce 2gts ultra this fall...

Anyway its nice to see that my geforce DDR will be obsolete in january :(

With the Geforce2 Ultra being priced at $499 ,I wonder how much the NV20 will cost?

This is probably old but I just found what purports to be a picture of an NV20 heatsink.

NV20 Heatsink

I thought I heard about a retail price in the range of of US$600 - 700. Am I remembering correctly?

Holy heatsink Batman! I might spend $400-$500, but $600-$700 is absolutely insane! By the way, does anyone have any info on the Pentium IV?

I heard the GF3 would be along the lines of $400 retail at its introduction- pushing GTS and Ultra prices correspondinly lower as in the past with product introductions. Unless Matrox, 3dfx and ATI can come out with products by Christmas that can stand toe to toe with the NV20- Nvidia unfortunately has no reason to lower prices =(.

Actually when you think about what Nvidia are doing it is really quite smart.

1. They introduce the line of cards, ie Geforce 2.
2. People go out an generally buy the cheaper versions allowing Nvidia to recover their costs.
3. Any expensive high end cards they sell is more then likely profit.
4. The next time they bring out a more expensive like the NV20 everything drops in price.
5. People then go out and buy the card they really wanted because it is now more affordable.
6. Anyone who goes and buys a NV20 is a bonus because this is gonna be profit for Nvidia. They are recouping the development cost for this card on their sales of the now lower price Ultra.

By pricing the high end cards at a ridiculous amount they are forcing the consumer to purchase the lower end cards which pays for R&D. Using this method they can also say look we are way ahead of the competition in terms of technology. They don't expect anyone to buy the better card but by releasing it they gain prestige which is what investors like. Therefore their share price goes up and hence they are worth more.

Exactly, 75% of nvidia sales is still from the old TNT2, nvidia hopes that the GF MX will replace the TNT2 number.
