Wow. I am surprised no one posted this. Searched for NVIDIA and earning.

Anyways Nvidia's earnings dropped 79%. Hopefully the 6800 series will get them back on track but as of right now there is a shortage of the 6800 cards (which means less money for Nvidia).

Also ATI is taking over xbox 2 graphics chip so that is another loss for NVIDIA.

Is the via 64 bit chipset on par with with the nforce3 chipset?

and we wonder why the prices of these cards are going up.

What do you guys think?

I think nvidia makes a solid chip and the fact that they continue to turn a profit in this time in the computer age is a miracle. I really like my 6800GT and i give nvidia a thumbs up on the geforce 6 series. I dont think this is good news to anyone (cept ATI shareholders), this is sad, for if nvidia was to go out of business, you could expect $1200 parts from ATI that are not innovative. It deaply saddens me to think of either going out of business. No offense man, but this does not belong in general hardware.

They are to be assured that stock with rise after this current line of cards..

Absolutely amazing.. Ati still has a strong counter part, and im sure they will nail the next cycle of cards...

But either way, nVidia is solid right now in D3 and all other games.. Half Life 2 will be a good jump for whoever takes it...

Nvidia is not going out of business.

not anytime soon, just saying "what if" for people that are over the edge and want nvidia to die

You better believe nVidia is here to stay..

Ladies and Gentlemen, lets not forget the nForce 2 chipset.. and the original nForce.

😀

nVidia had a rough couple cycles with the NV30 and i have a feeling their next couple releases will be tough to compete with.

my point was not that Nvidia was going out of business. There is no way nvidia is going out of business. Their earning just dropped 79%.

I've been a sole ATI fan since the original Radeon (had only a Geforce 2 for 2 weeks, before i got sick of the 2d), and prior to that was a Matrox fan... but my next videocard will probably be Nvidia.

The more competition the better i say... even though for some odd reason, prices aren't dropping, but increasing. I hope they slow down on the horsepower war soon, and maybe we'll get some pricing war.

nVidia's truly last good card was the Geforce 3.. ( Ti 4200 and such were ok )

Ever since the 128meg 8500's and ATI got their driver game together, i have benn with them since..

But this 6800GT @ Ultra speeds is outstanding..

BUY STOCK NOW!!!!

The 6800 series of cards combined with new Nforce 3 and 4 mobos will double their revenue next year.

I'm going to buy their stock. I'll let the stock settle and buy it. FX5800 and 5900 failures finally caught up to them.

Nvidia has good product in the 6800s and Nforce 3. It'll take 6-12 months before these products hit mainstream but it will.

Nvidia stock is taking a 30% haircut this morning. Ouch! They just lost about 700 million dollars in marketcap.

With more than 600 million dollars in cash and virtually no debt, Nvidia is in fine shape financially. They're still in the black earnings wise and at 1.7bil in marketcap, it's very attractive due to their strong balance sheet. I know their current lineup is very attractive and if early adaptor signs are any indication, Nvidia is going to sales are going to rebound in the high and mid graphics market. Nforce3 sales should also increase as A64 gains more traction. Sure Nvidia won't have Xbox2 and Gamecube2 sales but that should already be priced in the stock as that's old news.

Zebo, I'm with you. Not too many tech companies have Nvidia's balance sheet. Their 6800 and Nforce 3 product line are good and we should see rebound in earnings and stock price a year from now.

No doubt Nvidia will rebound withe new 6800 series they actually compete and obviously it looks like many enthusiests are going after GT's rather than Pro's. So thats a good thing for NV VERY good. I also have a NF3 board and its awsome. I wish I had money to buy some stock stupid college!!!

Man, it's a tough market right now. And it's not even Sept or October yet! They're having their fun with Nvidia! 🙂 Down $4.70/shr or 32% with over 13 million shares traded in 30 minutes! Man I want to jump in but I must be wait until the stock settles. Nvidia is dead money and will be in the doghouse for awhile.

This couldn't have anything to do with the fact that nVidia hasn't had a new Video product in the last 10 mths, and that they haven't sent their newest cards to retailers en masse yet, but are sitting on the dev and fab costs for 10 million 6800 GPU's, could it?

that's what im thinking. buy now ... but i odn't have the money.

Yep. The 5200s and 5600s came out 17-18 months ago.

That's an eternity.

They desperately need new mainstream products in the market.

if they get into the descreet sound card market with the soundstorm 2 on PCI-Express, then they can have something to compete very well against creative and VIA

I think the market has been hammer all day for the past few days.. its just adding fuel into fire.. since yesterday was the "biggest lost" as claim by a lot of people

Let this news also be a warning to ATI: Fix OGL and get SM3.0 to the market...or else!

I have the feeling R5XX/XB2 will be one helluva GPU!
