Firingsquad have an interview with Brian Burke who used to be a 3dfx PR guy but is now the nVidia PR guy. You can read it here.

I especially liked this bit:

FiringSquad: What impresses you the most about NVIDIA?

BB: Execution, execution, execution. And not just going through the motions either. They consistently hit their marks for product cycles and come out with the best product. They have a very big picture plan for the company, they are not tunnel vision on one segment of a single market.

3dfx are you listening? Ouch!

You don't get it hans007. He used to be 3dfx PR and now he is indirectly bashing them for the very things they continually deny.

When nVidia has a major slip up (it'll happen sooner or later) and some other company takes their spot, is he going to jump ship to the other company?

PR monkies like this one have no credibility in my book.

Well, he's not really jumping around a whole lot. He used to work at STB, I think that's what the article said, and they were bought by 3dfx so he became 3dfx. So he only really moved like this once(that I know of anyway). I don't really see anything wrong with that.

Wow, a PR guy bashing the competition.

The PR guy is bashing the company he was with before. Therefore his statements will carry more merit than that of a normal PR guy.

Of course hes bashing the competition. What do you think PR GUYS DO? Maybe they offered him more cash to come to Nivida. Think about it... Nivida hires guy from competition, guy bashes competition. Makes Nivida look good just because he is making other company look bad. I personally hate politics like this but unfortunatly its hard to avoid them. I would prefer a company keep there mouth shut about any other company and instead release killer products. Death to PR guys.

Was reading that today and it said that NV20 (Geforce3, which is a stupid name and hope they change it) was debuting at comdex. Anybody know anything about this? I'm sitting on my hands waiting to put together a system around a NV20...

What a sell out little bitch . No respect at all. Nvidia shouldn't hire a sell out like him. :|

You'd best be putting those hands to work to in order to pay for that NV20 when it becomes available. You're looking at $500-$600 for a video card that will no doubt be somewhat obsolete when Nvida releases their second generation NV20's only a few months later.

Shelling out $300 for a card which will be obsolete in 4 months is crazy. Shelling out $600 is insane. But heh, it's only money.

Do you really think it's going to be $500-$600? What happened to the good ole days when at launch $299 was obsurd? Maybe I'm better off getting a MX, but now I'm waiting for P4's. I hate this hobby! Always waiting....

Calling him a traitor shows how immature some people are.
If a programmer quits Microsoft to go working for Sun, or the other way around, is he a traitor?
If he thought the job at nVidia seemed better, be it cause of better pay, better job duties, or a more stable company, why shouldnt he change, anyone care to give some sort of half decent reason.

As for merit, I dont think what he says has more merit cause he worked at 3dfx, even if his impression of 3dfx when he left was that they're gonna crush everyone within 6 months, do you think he'd say that?

And as for the NV20, I seriously doubt it will cost 600$, probabaly more like 300-350, depending on the RAM configuration.
