wtf

i thought this was an april fools joke when my roommate showed me another link to an article on rage3d.com.......

well...

turns out it's true..

it's gonna be like consoles eh?....buy whichever card...to unlock the features of each game...........now pretty soon what?...buy each card to actually PLAY a game..like the game isn't playable w/ the other card...of course there will be hacks and whatnot...but still..this is total bullsh!t nvidia's doing.......i've been a fan of nvidia...really liked their cards and support....but this is bullsh!t.......

they're being pussies.....since they can't have the fastest card....instead of being creative and accept ATI's challenge to make the better card....they pussy out like this...... :|

3DFX did something like this way back when w/ GLIDE. Nvidia pwns 3dfx now. FWIW, EA sucks, so, no worries here. Well that and I use NVIDIA products so this wouldn't impact me. Although I'm on the fence for my next purchase... NVIDIA is lagging this round.

yeah.......hoping that nvidia has experience w/ ddr2 and 0.13 micron process.....ati doesn't.....so i suppose nvidia's next card will be kickass?...remember gf3?...tech demo, but gf4's was gf3 on crack basically...

Not too worried. Let NVidia do what they must. "Preferred" means little to me. Look at the boxes on all your games. Do you meet the recommended requirements? I knwo I dont. Win2K isnt the optimal gaming platform, and yet most all of them run. ATI will have good driver support, so games will work unless NVidia and EA team up to specifically thwart ATI. In that case....ATI files lawsuit.

That won't happen, because then EA would be losing a huge market... but then again, i can't see what advantage EA gets out of this.

money from nvidia? duh 😉

Looks like Nvidia has forgotten what got them to where they are, which was simply making better GPU's than anyone else. Why don't they try that, since ATI has been burning them a new one for nearly a year now?

yeah exactly...they're not willfully taking up ATI's challenge...

After the whole 3DMark 2003 fiasco, I guess this is how nVidia plans gets back at ATI. It's really a shame. 🙁

Nvidia also said it will have exclusive rights to bundle Electronic Arts's games for personal computers with its products.

You know what that means? You spend $400 for a video card, and they bundle Madden 2000, NBA Live 200 and NHL 2000 just to say 'thanks'... 😛

I just don't like the stoopid nVidia logo that pops up when I run Unreal Tournament 2003... on my ATI card.
