nVidia wasn't joking when they said the Geforce 3 would do 70FPS @ 1024x768 4X FSAA

This doesn't impress me and I'll tell you why. I've moved beyond 1024x768. The 1600x1200 (for whatever reason they jump straight to this res) is a paltry 24.9. Also, when you disable fsaa and/or 32-bit color on a GF3 you'll be running so much faster you will opt for that speed over anything else and you know it. And finally, I don't play Q3. How does it do in DirectX games?

Really JellyBaby? you run games that high? Wow =) I play quake1 software at 320x240 still, desktop res is 1280x1024, most other games at 800x600...

For most games I do not think AA is a big deal. Although I will agree, with some games it makes a massive improcement.

<< I'd rather play at 1600x1200 without QCAA than 1024x768 with it. >>

Uhhh, I'll definitely take 1024x768x32 QCAA (4XFSAA) over 1600x1200x32 NO AA! since I've gone FSAA, I'm NEVER going back! The GeForce 3 looks most impressive. :)

Early bench marks suggest that it is NOT faster.

While it may get better with drivers, the GF3 seems to shine in being fast with all options on.

Personally, I run every game I possibly can at 1600x1200 without FSAA.

I never could understand why I should go to a lower resolution & "blur" it to make it look pretty, when I can play at a much higher "sharper" resolution.

EXAMPLE: I can run Nascar 4 at 1600x1200 non FSAA with 26cars drawn in front & 4 behind, or I could do 800x600 with FSAA with 42 in front & 42 behind, but once you play a game in 1600x1200, theres no going back!

Of course this is all subject to personal opinion & I couldnt help but add my .02 cents worth.

I agree with JackBurton, I will go for FSAA rather than 1600*1200. But of course if the card can sustain the FSAA at 1600*1200 with more than 40fps than I will go for 1600*1200.

Driving sims are where FSAA really shines. I find the crawling, strobing effect of textures in my peripheral vision very distracting. I figure I'll get a GF3 when World Sports Cars is released. By then they should be down to $300 :) For now I'll suffer with my V5s.
