nVIDIA vs. ATI

I recently got an x800 Pro, and i hope to have an x800 XT PE soon as well. I keep reading previews on new games coming out and NONE of them seem to use the functions ATI provides for games. They are all being catered to the nVIDIA cards more or less. This is pretty much annoying the hell out of me. So, basically, am i better off going an nVIDIA card (the latest one when i decide to upgrade) if all i do is strictly gaming?

The game that got me fumed was STALKER. The game is going to take control of most of nVIDIA's features, but wont relate to ATI specifications such as truform technology and the like.

Truform is software, IIRC (with the new cards), so not very fast, even though it's quite good.
And UT2k4 is "nVidia: TWIMTBP", but uses Truform.

STALKER is using PS3.0, which is not an nVidia thing, but a DX thing. It's ATi's choice not to support it.
Unless you are talking baout something else STALKER uses, which is not part of the DX standard (that Microsoft effectively decrees).
