Nvidia vs. ATI

Putting both companies best cards against each other right now.. which would you guys prefer for best gaming performance? Also, any reasons as to why would be GREAT! thanks!

In DX8 or DX9? What price range? Those two factors are going to be the most important.

In theory, the X800 XT PE has the edge. You'd wana check benchmarks to be sure, though. Also, the X800's don't have Pixel Shader 3 support, so any game that comes out which uses it will end up being faster on the 6800, fillrates be damned.

Thanks! i had planned on buying the x800 xt pe in a few weeks but i passed over a topic where everyone agreed GF had the edge, so i wanted to be sure i was buying the best card i could. I could care less about multimedia or anything, all i do is hardcore gaming.
