According to nVidia and Macrovision, it is "fixed" in its current state.

Sorry dude ... you're boned. Stick to the WHQL 40.72s ... they're the latest without the Macrovision IIRC. Go back to 30.82s if you're still having issues.

I use nVDVD, never had a problem with DVD playback. I recall there were issues, but I don't know what board/player/drivers it impacts. I'm running a BFG Ti4200 and no problems here with any of the Dets released...err... since I installed the board anyway ;)

Boards that used TV chips that don't support macrovision are affected. M4H has it right...if your card won't play DVD's with the newer Det's...its as fixed as it will ever be. If the chips don't support macrovision, DVD playback won't work and you'll have to use the older drivers.

And how is this nVidia's fault? Nvidia makes GPUs and drivers - if some company cheaped out on the TV chip, why blame nVidia?
