nVidia under Federal investigation

Yawn....the UK press isn't very restrained in it's rhetoric and this piece sounds like it was written by a slobbering ATI fanboy who used to be a slobbering 3dfx fanboy.

The company is still rated a "buy" and it's posting profits above expectation and executing on product development, so this will blow over and the value will go back up. Wall Street's just jittery about anything related to accounting practices. Lou Rukyser(sp?) on Wall Street Week last Friday mentioned this and noted that Nvidia took over Enron's spot in the S&P 500.

I'm with DefRef on this one. Hell, the company I work for got screwed over from the same kind of gitters. Its a passing fad. I mean, come on, its nVidia for crying out loud. Who's going to overtake them, Matrox

Before you fdismiss this so easily, there was an article of Reuters news service yesterday that discussed this. The SEC investigation is very real. Analysts are optimistic about the high demand for nVidia products, thus the "Buy" rating remains in spite of the SEC inquiry.

There was probably some inside trading and questionable accounting practices. While it does not yet rise to the level of an Enron, it definitely could affect the value of the stock price.

The fact that Enron just happened might mean that. for political reasons, the SEC might have to make an example of nVidia. I hope that does not happen, but it might.

They've already be popped for insider trading, but unlike Enron, Nvidia punished those involved and cooperated with the probe. No shredding here.

The SEC probe is real, but doesn't mean they've done anything wrong. Something looks funky and the govt. is gonna jump all over it, lest they appear to be slacking. (Like they did with Enron.)

yeah add cisco to this one. just heard today on the radio looking for an article on it now.. I think you will see this alot more and wouldn't be suprised to see more companies added to the list.. i think nvidia is a great company and will get through this with no issues outstanding. as DefRef mentioned, Nvidia has shown a willingness to cooperate with the fed and I am sure is doing so now.

The SEC has been investigating nVidia for awhile over some illegal insider trading by nVidia employees that was allegedly going on.

Sure, NVIDIA employees were found guilty of insider trading. I do not know anything about the SEC accounting investigation. Categorizing a 7% move in the share price as a nosedive is simply laughable for a normally volatile stock especially in the current market environment. It strikes me as a sophmoric article (more a blurb).

there stock lost another 6% today. however don't frett, new nVidia cards are only produced for 8 months out of a 12 months cycle which translates to a 25% underpriceing of their stock. why does nVidia have a 4 months paid vacation every year; i don't know, but thier market share could tumble to a company that supplies cards all year long.

nemesismk2, where is you beloved KYRO III? 😛

Umm, thats right its late! In fact it might never be, cause STM is going out of the 3d Market.

All you kyro fan-boi's are still hyping up the KYRO line, saying that a buyer will come along for STM, and hopefully will accelerate the product line, or at-least get a newer product out!

Face it, the card you have been hyping is going the way of 3dfx.

Oh and btw, I sold my KYRO II with cash for a RADEON 8500 LE. Clocked it up to 290/290. And its the best deal I have done!

The Radeon 8500 totally owns the KYRO II in every way imaginable.

The same thing will be said for the KYRO III, because if released, what I have read in the forums, it will probably not come up to the RADEON 8500 spec and performace!!!

IMO 7% isent anything to ball over, AMD has gone down 5.25% and Western Digital has gone down over 7.35%.
