It could be used for lower power consumption on a high performance mobile part.

but why put it on the 5700u? the 9800xt/se is pretty much canibalizing that part of nv's segement, why would they want to close the performance gap between the 5700u and 5900xt when it's confusing enough that they are already priced similarly. do they need to further muddle an already confusing segment of their lineup? yikes...
