So, it looks like nvidia won't mess with the core (although I suppose thats up to their board partners) but may use the faster mem at 512MB..

How does October 5th sound?

J/k... That would be hilarious if they launched it on that day.

'Immediate availability at launch' tells me nothing about how soon the card will be available. It just means that Nvidia will delay announcing it until they actually have some to sell. Could be a week, a month, who knows.

You could be right. And you could be wrong.

Bolded above: Already you say they are going to delay it? I said Nvidia, not ATI.

You're shrinking as we speak, aren't you MORPH.... Well, you shouldn't be. It's good for competition don't you think?

The 7800 GTX will most probably be able to use that amount of mem, compared to the 6800 ultra 512mb.

If they could strap 1.26ns GDDR3 memory on the 7800 GTX :D

I'm just saying, I bet that language "immediate availability at launch" comes straight from Nvidia. They want people to believe this thing will be available very soon but they could launch it 3 months from now. Who knows. We do know that they have to make a whole new PCB so it's not a trivial thing.

Whopee, 512mb of mem we can't really use. Seriously, the only thing a 512mb card is good for is padding the Co. bottom line. Oh wait, Doom3 might be able to use it

No, what you're "just saying" is what you said above, but what you're thinking is, "My God when is ATI going to catch a break!!". Am I right? Or am I wrong to presume what you're thinking just as you are wrong to presume what nvidia "want's people to believe"?

Yeah. That's what I thought.

I'm not saying it's going to happen October 5th at all. But I would love to see it happen not for the sake of who is a better company, but to see MORPH STFU.

AFAIK nvidia is ready to launch these cards whenever they want. They went into production some time ago.

Then he'll either:

a) buy dual 512mb cards, or
b) insist that no games need 512mb yet

Or

c) he may just keep his SLI setup and add on a nice dual core CPU and say the 512 MB SLI setup is awesome too.

Anyway, they should launch it Oct 4 or earlier, because I doubt anyone will be as interested about a 512mb gtx as the r520, since we dont know much about it yet.

And in other news: 3D Realms is to release Duke Nukem Forever "when it's done"
