nothing unexpected....many people will think the R520 is a better card just because its 512MB so i guess Nvidia wouldnt want to lose some sales on its cards just because of this.

Well, there may finally be games coming out in enough numbers to warrant having the extra 256mb over current cards. Just as BF2 is beginning the transition to 2GB of system memory instead of 1GB.

Plus they already did 512MB 6800 cards, so having lower end cards with grater RAM capacity is stupid from a marketing POV.

Now that everyone thinks they must have 512MB of memory, hopefully that will drive down demand for 256MB GTXs and they will be cheaper than the new Radeon parts and (obviously) the 512MB GTX or Ultra (if released. I am waging they are already prepared with an Ultra at this time).

I'll take a 256MB 7800GTX still please! :D

I have a feeling Nvidia is in a position to completely rob the new Radeons of profit margin, and/or sales with the Geforce7s.

Its not looking good for ATI, from a business standpoint (again) this round. :frown:

I love how my cousin likes to run around talking about video memory and how I can run games faster simply cuz I have 256mb of ram and he only has 64mb... yea.

I remember people arguing with me how Voodoo 3s were worse than Savage 4s because of o nly 16mb of ram.
