Tell me if I'm doing it right. Uninstall the old drivers with the add/remove programs control panel. Purge the registry of ALL Nvidia traces using regedit and then manually looking for Nvidia strains. Shut down the comp, install new card and startup. Will this be enough or did I miss anything particularly important. This has been asked before, but I never seem to have a definate answer.

If anyone has a Radeon 9700 that they installed over a GF4 could they please explain what steps they took to install the card and what trouble you may have had.

I went from Detonator 40's and a Ti500 to the 9700.

Kinda like the way you suggest...

I Add/removed the nVidia drivers, Shut down and swapped cards, installed ATI drivers, had a few quirks so I did a search of the registry and pretty much just hacked out anything with 'nvidia' in it. After a restart I had no trouble.

It sorts itself out..no worries. :)
