i am a moderate gamer who likes to have good graphics gaming performance. i am on a budget as well. i also use tv-out capabilities to watch dvd's, divx movies, etc.

some questions:

1. i am exploring in getting a 128 mb ti4200. what is the ati (w/ tv-out) equivalent of the ti 4200?
2. how does the ati compare to the nvidia 4200 when it comes to tv-out quality (i use tvtool for nvidia)? i bought a radeon card before and was disappointed with the tv-out quality. it did not have an option for overscan hence the poor quality.
3. which is the bettern performer in gaming? the ti4200 or the ati equivalent?
4. should i get the ti4200 or the ati equivalent?

well I have the PNY GF4 Ti 4200 128MB w/tvo which I picked up for $70.99 a couple of weeks ago from Circuit City. The card is pretty good in general and I have no complaints with it.

I also have a Sapphire Radeon 8500LE 128MB which cost me $72 shipped from Newegg - the only game that I was playing at the swap over point was Soldier of Fortune 2.

In my estimation the Radeon was actually better than the GF4 in SoF 2 - why this is I have no idea at all.

DVD playback is also superior with the Radeon, however, at the bargain price of $70.99 the GF4 wins hands down.

The GF4 will normally be somewhere around $100+ so if you want to save money and be able to game occasionally the regularly priced Radeon is a good deal.
