Trust not the 3dmark scores for nvidia has cheated AGAIN! Altering the MIP map levels and introducing lower quality textures when 3dmark called for the highest quality textures! Why Nvidia! WHY!

DH is calling nvidia out

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Why would you take driverheavens word over Futuremark themselves who has already approved nvidia's drivers for the 6800 and stated that the drivers were appropriately optimized for 3DMark03? What the hell is wrong with you? I am also noticing all these junior members materializing with the exact same avatars. The dude with the glasses. WTF is going on Cindy?

Then their calling out Futuremark as well then? LOL

We have all seen screenshot comparisons of the 6800 and 9800XT and 5950 next to each other. The 5950 was obviously optimized to increase performance while sacrificing IQ and the AA pretty much sucked. But the 6800 and 9800XT looked to damn close to call.

If you noticed, ATi's image wasn't correct either just a little better. Plus if you took out the mipmap highlights it is impossible that you would notice a difference, the article basically said that too.

My guess would be as long as other fanboys respond and we get a flame war.

going to be playing ur game inthose blue red and green shades? no.....are you
going to be looking intently at the smallest space on your screen in the hope
you catch some dody optimization? no because if u do u will suck at the game

Well, IMO, I think both companies should be as close to the reference images as possible to make the benchmark at all credible (which it really isn't at this point b/c of this bs... Imagine if all cards were forced to render the same image?). ATI is definetly a great deal closer.

Been avoiding this topic as it is so absurd.

Anyone enable colored mip maps in your title of choice(Q3 powered games or SS/SS:SE are the easiest IMO) and take a screenshot at a particular exact spot. Then, exit out of the game, move your 'detail' slider one notch, and repeat. You will see a larger varriance, by a decent margin, doing that then there are between the ATi and nV shots that DH posted.

Looking it over to me it appears that there is maybe a .05 offset in the LOD bias between the shots, it gets a bit amplified due to the angles of some of the surfaces however(it appears that the offset could be in the single digit pixel range- that's just enough to trigger some of the angled surfaces to a different mip transition).
