I just got a new pci express mb (ECS NFORCE4-A754 http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=13-135-190&depa=0 )
and video card (xfx gf6800gt http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=14-150-078&depa=0 )

my power supply is the enermax 470w noisetaker ( http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=17-103-493&depa=0 )

after i plugged everything in and ran 3dmark i started getting these nvidia system sentinel errors telling me my card wasn't getting enough power and that i should hook extra power supply connectors to it. unfortunately this doesnt help me at all since the pci express 6600gt has no extra power connectors and is supposed to get all its power from the pci express slot. the only power change i could make with the card was plugging its fan power into my power supply, which had no effect.

i got a 20->24pin adapter since this motherboard has 24pin power, but unfortunately that also had no effect.

i am about to RMA the card, but i thought i would post first and see if theres something i've overlooked.

edit: for completeness' sake here is everything else i'm using in this computer:

athlon 64 3000+
2x256 ocz 3500+ EB
1x1024 gigaram
SATA wd raptor 74g
turtle beach pci sound card
3 1/2 floppy
dvd-rom

i dont have any crazy cooling or anything else going on that would be a big power drain.

i guess i'm gonna drive over to frozencpu tomorrow morning and get a new power supply because i really dont want to have my system out of commission for a week while i wait for an rma to process for my video card.

I doubt it's the power supply but you can test it by performing a minimal hardware boot to see if the situation improves.

well it wasnt the power supply. the card is in the mail to get replaced and i'm hoping to hell its the problem. if its the motherboard it looks like my only other option for a pci express + socket 754 solution is the MSI K8N Neo3-F which at the moment seems like a bitch to actually find.

i should have just stuck with agp...
