Woah, big drop

I've been following nVidia and ATi stocks, ATi were rising steadily, but have stopped and begun to drop slightly (5% or so), but I checed nVidia today, and they were in the $15 dollar area, last time I looked a few days ago they were in $19~$20 area, and they've been dropping a fair bit recently.

$15.50 at the moment

However, Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) rattled technology shares after it warned that its gross margins would be hurt by higher technology costs. Its shares fell $3.80 or 19.69 percent, to $15.50 and were among the Nasdaq's most active issues.
it gave revenue and margin guidance that analysts said hinted at problems with its manufacturing costs and growth potential

A great deal of that 20% drop was just Friday. It was as high as 19.50 on Thursday. I think it will climb back up. It was under $10 just a few months ago.

Not if their last month has been anything to go by. A steady decline from a peak of ~$27 down to $~20, then the drop to $15.50.

nVidia in 3 months has gone from ~$16 to ~$16, peak $27. ATi has gone from ~$6 to ~$12 in the same period, peak of $13.

Well, they've grown about 300% since inception in 1999, so in the course of four years, I think that's a pretty good return (not including any stock splits that might have occured over that period)

Analysts are fretting over their gross margins and the fact that they missed a product cycle (even though that was a while back) and how that will affect their sales in the next two quarters.

Nvidia is saying they expect growth in their Xbox chip sales.
