Do you think it's worth me running 6600 GT SLI?

1280x1024
4xAA

AMD 64 3000
1GB RAM

Games
Enemy Territory
CSS
Fear
BF2

for those settings then probably

if you are in a position to pick up another 6600GT then go for it. or you might wanna look at getting a 6800GT or something

My madness behind this is,

It's going to cost $300 for a 6800 GT
or
It's going to cost $375 for a 7800 GT

I can't sell my existing 6600 GT for more than $120. If I can use a different manufactures 6600 GT then I can buy a used one for around $120. So I'd have an SLI system performing at or close to a 6800 GT for only $120 out of pocket (total $240 if you include what my existing is worth).

gamingphreek reckons that nvidias next set of drivers may allow u to mix n match different vendors. but im not sure

see his posts here

but yeah the cheapest option for you is to get another 6600.

it'll give you probably about 90% of a 6800GT in most cases, and sometimes itll give you more, but in hi-res AA and AF situations....its the 6800GT that will be out infront

Still, buying one GeForce 6600 and adding another one after some time may be a feasible upgrade path as NVIDIA promised that from now on its multi-GPU technology will allow graphics cards with different BIOS versions and from different manufacturers to work in collaboration, thanks to new drivers. Up to now graphics cards from one maker and with similar BIOS versions were needed for multi-GPU operation.

When?

Why don't you look up (use the search feature by author) Rollo's thread on the 6600GT's in SLI. IIRC, he did a bunch of benchies on the subject.
