Nvidia scraps 615 and 620 chipsets for Athlon in favor of ???

Here's the quote from AMDzone:

"In our meeting today with Nvidia we learned that the 615 and 620 nForce chipsets will no longer come to market. These chipsets were to add DDR333 support as a feature. nForce 2 will become the focus for Nvidia's next Athlon chipset. Nvidia will provide us with an official statement soon."

These were the Nforce boards to support DDR333. If I were a betting man I'd say Nvidia will concentrate on Hammer chipsets as AMD seems determined to reduce the Athlon XP to value status @ 266FSB...where Nvidia already has a chipset solution in place for OEMs.

If I had to guess, I'd say that NVidia is concentrating on nForce 2 (which should have ATA133, DDR333, USB 2.0, AGP 8x, GeForce4 MX, etc.) and their ClawHammer chipset. Just a random guess though...

Not a big disappointment in my mind, the only significant benefit would be to those using the integrated graphics core. nVidia's already got quite clearly the highest performance integrated graphics core available as it.

My guess is nVidia will pull out their next chipset around December/January.... shortly after ClawHammer launches and VIA pulls out their first K8 chipset.
