I actually don't recall an X1800XT Platinum Edition(PE) being available.
Where did you get that?
Note: I had the X800XT and X850 XT PE models myself.

I dont know why you bother LOL_Wut_Axel, some people just go trough life looking straight forward, not once do they look to the sides. They have no clue what they are missing (in life that is, not in this very limited field of discussion) and will not have anyone tell them differently.

With the kinda attitude he is replying with, id leave that boat to sail on.

Your point is your point alone and only valid to you. You can keep re-iterating it, and by your post count/join date ratio I would say your going to keep doing so.

I'm glad you enjoy bang for the buck cards, thats great. I enjoy getting the top end cards so I don't have to settle for overclocking/bios flashing and convincing others my way is the best to be happy.

Good day sir

I could say the same thing about "your point". The only problem is, you don't have one to begin with.

You can continue paying a lot more for something that's just barely better. If having more money than brains makes you happy good for you.

Personally have no problem if one desires to pay a modest premium for the very best an IHV offers. There are value choices, if one desires this as well, and why choice is paramount based on individual's subjective tastes, tolerances, and wallet size.

What I don't understand is how some try to force their view onto others and then goes the personal route.

Exactly.

Apparently they know me and how I go through the rest of my life too.

Not that I have to justify myself here but I just want to present a little life advice.

I do away with a lot of the frivoulous expeditures in life that so many people blow money on. I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, gamble or drink coffee habitually which allows me to own a nice home, drive nice cars, motorcycles, buy high end video cards and take care of my family. This makes me happy. If you aren't happy then you are doing something wrong.

The second my finacial situation forces me to settle for bang for the buck cards then so be it.

Till then, I shall look forward to GTX 680's and HD7970's.

It says in the article it will probably use more power than the GTX560.
Also, while 3-way SLI might be nice, less confusing naming would be more ideal.
One would assume that you can't SLI this GTX560Ti with other GTX560 Tis.

The timing is what is the weirdest thing though. Normally cut down chips are released with a short delay, but not massive, after stockpiles of defective chips have built up. We saw it with the HD5830 and the GTX465, but releasing a cut-down chip to harvest dies a year after original release seems really weird, unless yields have been really good in terms of getting 570 and 580 dies out, and they are going to release one card to push out their last defective 40nm GF110 dies before they start with 28nm products.

Would still have made 100000x more sense to call it a GTX565 though.

I think that gtx 560 ti + would have a nice ring to it...

Probably getting production up on this card, and it will be re-branded as GTX 650GT or something when 28nm comes out. The 560, 570, and 580 might be EOL then, and this will take their place on middle-end, below a couple faster new 28nm high-end skus.

Not to mention they have nothing to compete against except themselves in general.
Releasing a higher clocked part at the end of life for current cards to compete against your own cards makes pretty much zero sense.

I think it makes sense. They get to sell their salvaged gtx 580 parts and save themselves a ginormous writeoff on them. It's just impressive that it's taken them this long to make enough of them, gtx 580 yields must be pretty good. Remember that AMD typically does this sort of thing as well, but with cypress they haven't done it yet, either. Maybe both camps are doing pretty well in this area right now.

Why even buy new cards at all, used ones are a heck of a lot more of a bargain. New cards are such a waste of money, you got to be lacking in brains to buy anything new!

While he is at it he could, he needs to stop eating out, do all his shopping at the goodwill, burn dead trees for heat, do not flush each time the toilet is used. And run only 1 bathtub full of water each week. With that tub everyone in his family could take turns bathing for the week. Afterwards the dishes could be washed with the same bath water.

Its just dumb to waste money on stuff that i do not see necessary. Be sure to check back with me before you make a purchase that i havent spoke of so i can let you know if its the smart way (which is my way btw) or not!

Does one really need to stop flushing in the name of GREEN? Really?

Woosh!

Riveting tale chap, but you apparently don't even have a clue of what I'm talking about.

If I was nVidia, I'd release a reference 56X Ti with 2GB (rear-exhaust), a 2.5GB 57X, and a binned 6GB (2x3) 59X. Memory is cheaper than brand-loyalty. I'd buy a 6 (2x3) GB slightly-higher-clocked 590 for $800; I like a clean system.
