nVidia PhysX tested in various games

Yeah sure a massive FPS boost with Havok and non PhysX titles.

Havok games
Dead Space
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
Lost Planet

Non PhysX games
Damnation

or even better trying to run a 4870 with a GTS250 for PhysX in Vista.

The question is, how long will PhysX persist and how frequent will games benefit from this from now on? I certainly don't want my PC case to go up 5 degrees and listen to a dust buster party for a few extra fps with the *occasional* game.

Well, instead of laughing about it, why don't we try to confirm, or dispel those results?
I think I have Dead Space lying around here somewhere. I don't have the full version of Lost Planet, and I wonder if the demo would suffice.

I'll give those two a go and see what happens.

Oh, and you can't run a 4870 with a GTS250 for PhysX in Vista. Use Win7.

I only have Dead Space also, so I'll just wait for your results.

Also ATI + Nvidia ( PhysX ) in Win7 doesn't work that well the last time I tried it.

It won't work for every game I think. It worked in Mirror's Edge and some of the PhysX tech demos for me in Win7.

EDIT: Okay this article is getting a thorough beat down over at XS...it's pretty obvious some numbers are made up. I'm gonna ask to get it locked/deleted.

Ah, bummer.

I'll be using a GTX295 + 8400GS.
GTX295 PhysX Off
GTX295 PhysX On
GTX295 + 8400GS PhysX On

Eh, why do those numbers not make sense? Specifically, why is a single GTX275 with PhysX off getting worse performance than a single 275 with PhysX on? Am I missing something? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
