So the Personal Cinema is "compatable" with GeForce2, GeForce3, and GeForce4's. My question is...

Since you can't get just the Personal Cinema unit alone (since you need a different daughter card on your video card), will manufacturers make a GeForce4 package (a Ti series card that is) with the Personal Cinema??

Is it up to the manufacturers or nVidia????

There is a report of one manufacturer making a GF4 MX one, but everything else is GF2MX. They are supposed to be available for everything, but something is fishy.... either they don't work on other cards (which is entirely possible, since the GF2 and 3s have absolutely no features other than speed built in them). Or nvidia won't allow it.

Why would you want one of those when you can get a AIW card for cheaper? A personal cinema II will need to be out before it gets any attention.

It's up to the manufacturers. Supposively, there was suppose to be an Xtacsy card with a Geforce 3 Ti500 and a Personal Cinema launched in mid to late January. I read that in maybe mid-December. I haven't heard anything since. I'm really anticipating one too (one with something other than an MX on it). Hopefully someone will give us an alternative to ATI's AIW's.

NO, no. I definately don't want the ALL-IN-WONDER Radeon 8500. I want the power of the GeForce4 Ti4400/4600 ... I want to clear out some of my PCI slots. So I'd eliminate my PCI video card (ATI) since I'd do my dual monitor with the GeForce4 and I'd eliminate my TV tuner card if there was a Personal Cinema version of the Ti series GeForce4.

The problem with the AIW is it can't be super fast, there is too much heat caused by the tv equipment to allow ultra fast memory and core speeds. They are a much better option then personal cinema, I'd take the performance hit over features that don't work and grainy video.

My question is why hasn?t NVIDIA made more of an effort to push the Personal
Cinema ? Surely there are a few bucks to be made in such a market, and it seems to be one of the very few areas where NVIDIA isn?t aggressively going after ATI?s market share. With the MX line they went for ATI?s throat in the mid-range market, and their GeForce 2 Go line did much the same thing in the mobile space.

I really think the Personal Cinema?s would do very well in the market, if some manufs would finally get off their ass and start putting them with boards that have the GeForce 3 or 4 chipset. What do you guys think ?

I know that there seem to be a lot of people who don?t trust ATI?s drivers ? I myself am a happy owner of an ATI AIW RADEON on a VIA-based, Win98Se\XP system ? so I would think they would have a considerable market right there. In the same way that NFORCE has a significant contingent of users that are using it because ?it?s not VIA?

This whole thing has actually been on my mind for quite a while ? hence the spirited rant
above ? so I?d love to hear what everyone else thinks. Especially anyone who has owned the Personal Cinema.

Yeah, I was wondering who owns a Personal Cinema equipped nVidia card. How good is the TV playback? Can you compare it with a Hauppauge tv tuner card?

thats the problem with the personal cinema, as a product, it sucks.

The tv quality is bad, they compared it to 3 others and it wound up on the bottom of the pile, not even close to the others.

nvidia tv out has always been awful, and it still is here.

The simple reason you aren't seeing these cards come out is because they just aren't good. Their drivers are awful, and it isn't worth the time for people to develop them.

I can't remember.... review was months ago. One site did a indepth review of the tv function, most glossed over it though.
