I can't believe I'm so late to the party on this. I have 460, 570, and 680s laying around due to my gaming upgrades, so this is bad ass. I tried it in a machine at work and it works pretty good so far. The only problem is you cannot pick volumes during boot up, which is not an every day thing. I might buy a used Mac Pro for home now.

You've gone 460 > 570 > 680 > 780 Ti (which is like a 790), what are you going to do with the 800 series??

More like 460 > 570 > 570 SLi > 680 > 680 SLi > 780 Ti OC...

More than likely I wont upgrade for awhile, but if I do I will probably go 780 Ti SLi before an 800 series, unless the mid range 800 series card destroys the 780Ti and it makes more sense to get two of those.

I've got a "PC" 5770 in my first-gen Mac Pro and it works fine except for the boot screen.

The first-gen ones are priced in the $400-$500 range on Craigslist pretty regularly. Really nice machine for the price. Yes, the hardware is old and the RAM is expensive, but it is super quiet and has 4 nice HDD sleds. I've had mine for 5 or 6 years now. I use my MBP for everyday use, but I store all my photos and other media on the MP.
