Ah, the 22nd was the day they were going to announce the release date of the 590. We all must have forgotten nVidia likes to have announcements of announcements. ;)

Be cool to see what they pull off. I'm sure there will be some outside of the box thinking.

If you want the REAL answer to this mystery, it was reviewers who requested a little extra time to conduct their benchmarks. Nvidia moved the launch from the 22nd to the 24th due to those requests.

Announcements of announcements didn't have much to do with anything.
Just FYI.

Maximum PC reported it was driver issues.

Perhaps both are correct, and the reviewers were having driver issues and requested more time.

i have been asking both Nvidia and AMD for more time to review their products for over a year.

Why? The more time we have, the more thorough the review ...

i won't speculate here why any request for more time might have been granted (this time). No driver issues here. . .. . Pretty obvious, i think. And now i am back to work. Verrrrrry interesting.

Curious to know if anything differs considering they said they have been working on this for two years.

They've been working on THIS card for 2 years? I know architectures take a while to work on but this specific card for 2 years? Hope it's special, and not just like the 6990 is to AMD.

But wait.. Didn't they announce the 22nd as the date earlier in the month? So, the announcement for the announcement date of the announcement date??

They are using 2 years, thats how long its been since the launch of the gtx 295. Along the way since then, they probably have been churning out potential dual gpu candidates, until now, none are live.

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? DoH!

How many of you are going buy (1) 590? or buying (2) 590's for SLi? I wonder if the 580's will have price drop?
