I hope for our sake this thing lives up to the hype! You'd think we were waiting on the Second Coming!

Edit: According to this picture, nVidia says NV30 2x faster than a GeForce4. Isn't R300 300% faster in some cases?

I never knew floating point calculations (something that can't be seen) could be converted into distance.

Anybody got the conversion for that?
 
We shall see how things look at Comdex. I'm interested, but need to upgrade before EOY so I can write it off. Might end up getting a 9700 if Anand's note on the front page is true. He's been wrong before though.
 
A Ti4800? What a joke, there is barely any speed increase with AGP 8x. I mean, wow a 1% to 3% speed increase! Not to mention the Ti4600 SE sounds like a total load of... I want the Nv30!

I may be eating my words in a few weeks, but looking at this presentation slide from nVidia, I think those of you who truly think that NV30 will destroy R300 in every area will be disappointed. R300 is up to 300% faster than a Ti4600 in some areas, and nVidia is only predicting NV30 will be 2x faster than a Ti4600.

I actually feel sorry for nVidia. There is really little they can do to live up to the hype we've created for their next product. ATi just might have pulled a rabbit out of its hat with R300.

I think the key here is that "R300 can be up to x3 faster", while according to that slide "nv30 will be x2 faster". Anyway, IMHO there is no pointing making any points that are not based on facts.
 
I'm hoping that NVidia will have a tiered product lineup for the NV30 as they did the GF4 Ti. I am pleased with my 4200 (really a disguised 4400 🙂 ) and probably will buy an NV30 as soon as I can. I just don't want to drop an entire car payment on one. 😀

I think they just took 51Gm (51,000,000km) and didn't do any conversion at all. The moon orbits about 384,400km from Earth.

51,000,000 / 384,400 = 132 That is about the number they used. They didn't do any conversion at all. Most of their fun facts are totally meaningless.
 
moores law cubed my ass, if you go from 0 to 10000 transistors thats moores law^ infinity but its not impressive when the bleeding edge is 1 million transistors
