Nvidia Nforce Driver 5.11 issue

So I replaced my motherboard with the Abit NF8 a couple weeks ago and all was well. The problem started with me not knowing that the 5.11 Nforce drivers were already installed by a technician. So when I got the computer home I tried to install them again.

Now before I did this, everything was working well, including my Internet. So when I tried to install the 5.11's again, all hell broke loose.

Now I cannot get to the Internet at all. Everything else seems to be working fine, but when I start my computer I get the "Found New Hardware" pop up, then a couple seconds later I get the "there was a problem with an installation" in the lower right hand corner.

I know the problem is in the Ethernet portion of the Nforce driver install, but at this point I do not know how to resolve it.

Any help would be appreciated!

You will have to ..

1. You will have to remove the current NF4 drivers.

2. Either use the drivers that came with the board (if you wre given the cd) and not install the NAM and then download the version you want

or

burn a copy of the drivers you want to cd from another computer and install from the cd.

This would be easier then trying to get your currently installed drivers working.

Thanks, but where do the drivers show up to actually remove them? I've tried this before but as of now, it's not working.

I've been in my Add/Remove programs and they are not listed. Would they be somewhere else?

Should be listed as" Nvidia drivers",then you get the option to remove chipset or video drivers or both after you select it.

Personally I would download latest Nvidia chipset and video drivers from Nvidia website, uninstall both chipset and video drivers, then after reboot install chipset drivers first then Nvidia video drivers after next reboot.

ah yes, thanks! I did see Nvidia Drivers but I assumed they were for Video. Wasn't sure if they were for the motherboard as well.

I will try that.

6.66? Never heard of them. I have a Nforce 3 board not N4. Not sure if that makes a difference, but I'll look for the 6.66
