these stats show the 7850 being just shy of a gtx570!

with a uk rrp of £185 where the gtx570s are stubbornly sticking to above £250!

i'm sure the 600 keplar series (WHERE THE F**K ARE THEY???) will at least address the pricing (i expect gtx570s for less than £200 in the uk very soon), but amd are really powering ahead..

i got a 5850 now and will probably upgrade to a gtx570 when they get nice and cheap..

I wouldn't worry. Kepler's gonna blow the 7970 out of da water.

Good and they can discount the 7970 deeply to the point where I will buy 2 :D It doesn't matter about the performance after 2 since its already been proven that 2x 7970s can bottleneck a 2500k/2600k.

But when will they have something more matched to the 7800 series? If they do come out with their high end card first, it could be a while until they release the 660. Having the high end is certainly of great value to nVidia, but they're going to get more sales out of their performance and mainstream segments of the market. The OP has a valid point that nVidia is going to need to get the rest of their lineup out sooner rather than later.

Don't be too dissappointed if nVidia just comes in competitive with AMD. It's far more likely than them starting a pricing war.

I've been saying this for a while now :whiste:

At least for the high end. IMO Nvidia is going to NEED to fight for the 7850's bracket.

Really nice for nv to move back to cheaper 256 bus. Must be able to beat AMD with it. Also nice is two six pins again. Can't wait for this round from nV and will probably sell my 580 even though it's just fine for everything I do due to better efficiency. AMD's stuff right now is that way but way overpriced. Hope nV puts them in place.

7850 should be $220
7870 should be $300
7950 Should be $350
7970 should be $450

And I think that's where things will settle in at once nV releases competitive products.

Always interesting to see how close the 7870 is to the 7950... Kinda makes the later obsolete imo

Something is seriously bottle necking the 7900s. Specifically the 7950, I mean 40% more SPs and has a 384-bit memory but is only like 8% faster than 7870? It's either bad design comparatively or drivers.

IIRC, when clocked the same (@1000MHz), the 7950 is about 25% faster than the 7870. But I don't have a link for that number, and maybe the drivers are playing a role. But there are probably situations where the stock 7950 clock of 800MHz hurts it as compared to the 1000MHz stock core on the 7870. Which begs the question, what's the highest stable overclock for each card?

7870 @ $300 =

AMD is dumb. If it had launched for $50 less than their MSRP, They'd have everyone's money next week. As is it's only a little faster than 570s which can be had ~ $280 and $350 makes it worth waiting to see what nV brings or just get a $70 cheaper equivalent in GTX 570..

Well, the 7970 only performs 30% better despite having 50% more shaders and 50% more mem bandwidth similar clocks.

It will clock very high/ Some @ xteme are getting 1.5Ghz on air.
