Nvidia install-> disable virus scanner?!

JEDI

Lifer
if i didnt d/l it myself from nvidia's website, i could swear that it's a virus/phish/keylogger trick

Why do i need to disable my virus scanner to install the drivers?

It asks you to do that because sometimes AV can messup an install. You can leave your av on but if you have any problems installing it's best to disable it.

Yes AV software often block all files from entering the system folder, in which when you do a driver install, you need to copy files into the system folder.

I have never had any problems with it. Just leave it on and if something isn't right or not working reinstall with them disabled.

I've never had any problems installing nVidia drivers with Norton AV on, but that doesn't say for other products. I know that certain versions of PC-Cillin and KAV must be disabled when installing drivers.

just a precausion, dont forget that it is also installing an overclocking program (able to be seen using coolbits). does not affect me, i always install it in safemode after driver cleaner removes the old.
