For those who do not understand what Parody means, it is a twist on some other event... In this case, all of the other ATI is doomed threads. Yes, parody threads are, as a rule, discouraged, but I could not resist. AND I do NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS IS TRUE. Clear?

*sop*

nVidia is doomed and losing market share!

Intel, ATI and VIA increased their share of the graphics chip market during Q2, largely at the expense of Nvidia, figures from Jon Peddie Research (JPR) reveal.

Yep, nVidia will be closing their doors any day now...

*eop*

Now, can we see no more stupid threads about how ATI or nVidia are on the brink of disaster? They are not.

lol , anyways Nvidia will be in real trouble if 7800U can't beat R520 when ever they come out. Also if Ati some how bring out a nice over kill $250 graphic card than can beat 6800U very easy.

Where does it say it's a parody? Looks like normal false information straight from The Inquirer.

Yeah, hard to imagine. But on the upside, XGI is holding it's own, so they should be around for a long time;)

http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/display/20050502125621.html

1. Intel - 43%
2. ATI - 26%
3. nVidia - 17%

Intel Corp. managed to maintain its leading position in the graphics market due to strong sales of chipsets with built-in graphics cores, according to JPR. The company posted 0.6% sequential increase in graphics shipments in Q1 2005 and now commands 43.1% of the market. ATI Technologies sustained its No. 2 position in the first quarter with an 11.3% sequential decline in shipments and reduced to 26.1% share of the total graphics market. NVIDIA Corp. remained on the third spot with a 9.7% sequential decline in shipments and reduced to 17.9% market share. All other graphics products vendors also faced declines in shipments and shrunk market shares.

Additionally, it says

"While the market of DirectX 9.0 graphics components demonstrated sequential growth, underperformance in different segments caused shipments declines at both ATI and NVIDIA, according to previously released data"

Which goes to show you..High End market means squat. There are only a select group of people who purchase very high end card. The middle-tier and lower end (notebooks and onboard chips) are the key areas for these graphics companies. This is proven by the fact that Intel is #1.

All that said. I can't see nVidia going anywhere. As long as they can sustain sales and not overspend...they should be just fine.

It does mean something, you think the profit magain on a $5 northbridge (intel, SiS, VIA) and a $400-$550 add in card are the same?

A decrease in units doesnt neccesarily equate lower total sales or net profit.
