I have a new DFI expert that I set up using the nvidia raid drivers for a raid 0 with two sata drives. I did not use the nvida IDE driver because I never do out of zillions of previous recommendations. However, two different DVD burners seem flakey in the system and I was wondering if I should use nvida IDE drivers in this specific case?

Thanks just wondering.

you know, i have nvidia drivers installed on my Asus A8n sli premium, and have no problems, i also got pretty crappy score on CPU mark 2005 when i didnt have them installed on my (SE16 WD3200KS 320GB SATA 2)

but i never really checked real time performance between the no driver/driver config...

Some will say to not install them due to problems with burners etc.. I have them installed because I have a Raid 1 PATA array, and they are necessary. No problems. Both of my dvd burners still work fine. Then again they worked fine before I set up the Raid and installed the IDE drivers too. BTW, same MB you have. See sig.

Thanks, I've only found one or two discussions about the DVD issue and it may be related to the instance when using Nvidia raid without Nvidia IDE drivers. I have a back up 300gb Seagate IDE HDD on Primary Master and have no problems. The DVD is on secondary master and it does sometimes act funny - really lags when disk is inserted, explorer searchs really long, even a lock or two. Both these drives are really new and were in computers where they worked flawlessly.

I'll give it a try and see what happens. Thanks again.

Edit: I tried the DVD with and without the HDD in the system and on both Primary and Secondary IDE - so channnels are ok, it's just the DVD.
