Nvidia IDE Driver + Plextor CD Burner = BAD!

This little problem took me a little while to figure out!

I have been running my PC with apparently no problems for about a month or so. Then I ran into burning problem. I was trying to burn a binary image to CD-R and every attempt lead to a crashed PC and a frisbee!

It was looking (to me) like my Plextor burner was giving up the ghost. that is... since I have had no problems burning CD-RW backup files.
Well, I was on NForceHQ forums reading a bit and read a post where somebody mentioned that they don't trust the Nvidia IDE drivers. Then I saw another saying that they install IDE's as SCSI!

Looking at device mgr i noticed I had a SCSI listing and that there was no listing for primary and secondary IDE controller.

Now that I have uninstalled the Nvidia drivers and reinstalled them without the IDE driver all is as it should be!

I thought I would post this for anyone building using a nforce mobo.
Actually this is the only problem I have had with my nforce combo though.....

What version of the drivers are you using? I don't think that the 2.45's even come with IDE drivers anymore - they just use the default WinXP ones, for that reason - the IDE drivers that the 2.41 and 2.42 sets had were crap.

It was the 2.45's....
Right now I am on the 2.03's because I lost my network when I uninstalled and that's what I had on disk.

The nForce drivers do come with the SW IDE drivers, it is best to not install them. I installed them when I first got my 8RDA+ (2.03 drivers) I formatted and reinstalled XP and then chose not to install the SW drivers.
