So they lost a battle and are now are winning the war.
Wheres the 6950/70? The 6990 next year? No X-mas cards? Sounds like they got caught with their pants down?

Nvidia is selling the gtx570/80 like hotcakes with no competition during the holidays.
AMD fanboys are jumping ship to Nvidia like its the Titanic. 🙂

Thats because they care about gamers pocket books. They even give us stuff for free.
AMD just raises there prices over MSRP.

Please insert sarcasm tags so people won't take you seriously. 😉

Did you think his comment was profound and you were speechless?

This

Or did you think he was full of it?

and this.

I am certain of one thing though.. they do know how to please focus group members.

What are you trying to say here busydude?

15 months later they're finally competing with AMD's previous generation? What an accomplishment! 🙄

AMD's previous generation? NVIDIA has what like 4 chips faster than the 6870 (AMD's current generation flagship). This is one reason why the 570 is so great. There is no competition for it at all. Some rumors suggest there won't be for some time.

Either way you are getting way too upset over this. Let's all go back to talking about the 570 (at least in this thread).

Looks like nV is back on track making a boat-load of cash and having 3 of the top 4 cards, and great value in the middle/low-middle.

Looks like 09/H12010 is going to be a distant memory.

Guess you will have to use your imagination

Man, you guys are faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar worse than you can ever accuse me of being. I don't even compare.

I am sure there are some here that promote amd with equal zeal.

Anyways the real topic is that the gtx570 looks to be a solid buy for those who want to spend $350 today on a vid card. Certainly doesn't look to be a flop like the last generation.

I meant in terms of sales. The common belief at the time of release was noisy, hot and late. They have improved with time in terms of noisy and hot.

I don't think they saw any good in the GTX470/480. They saw it hot. They saw it loud. They saw it late. They saw it expensive to manufacture, or unmanufacturable.

They basically seen it like the "KING FANBOY" Charlie seen it..

Yea, they seemed to forget the most important part, that it was faster then the 58xx series.

Too bad 5970 exists for that purpose. And that the 470 and 480 was also more expensive than the parts it beat.

The 570 is a nice evolutionary change, though with the ridic deals on 5870 and 470, it doesn't seem as good once those parts are EOL'ed.

Ther 5970 was way too exspensive and had driver problems up till 2 months ago. I felt sorry for those who bought one.

Of coarse they were more exspensive they were faster. Thanks to the gtx460 the 5850 finally came down to its MSRP.

I'm not surprised you need to compare NVIDIA's high-end offerings to AMD's mid-range, NVIDIA needs any handicap they can get 🙂. Although NVIDIA believes this too, that's why they're pricing their high-end GTX 470's at mid-range prices. I guess they finally figured out what consumers think their cards are worth

Mabe because AMD has no high end? The high end now is the gtx570 and 580.
AMd's high end is just holding its own vs the midrange gtx470.

I'm assuming by your grammar that you were imbibing a bit in some fermented drink when you posted this. And the 5850's were expensive due to high demand soon after initial release, and nothing to compete with it (GTX460) for many months.

The 5970 is only "holding its own" against the GTX470? Which benchmarks are you reading?

Until the 6900 series launches, the 570 and 580 can compete with Xfired 6850's and 6870's respectively.

Please don't take my posts to mean I think the new 500 series is crap. Far from it. I think they are great cards and offer a lot of performance improvements on the 400 series. No single gpu card comes close at the moment. I just get tired of the "Let's Suggest Sainthood for Nvidia" attitude.

The 5850's were expensive due to no competition until the gtx470 was released. The gtx460 just made the price drop futher.

Last time I checked, AMD still had the fastest card on the market. A whole year after its release. Great work Green Team .
