Of course it is, but with a 300w TDP it's going to be downclocked a bit.

And with Nvidia's new overclocking lockdown it's probably never ever going to = 680 SLI.

I guess BigK is to never be put into a consumer 600-series GPU, but will be tweaked and saved for the 780.
Damn them. I don't want this dual-GPU shit. No better than SLI when it comes to the end result.

Yeah and it's clocked so high it's pretty much unfeasible for AMD to beat it with a 7990, unless they do some crazy binning and bring it out clocked considerably higher than a stock 7970.

Multi-GPU... bugs, driver issues and incompatibilities, more power/heat/noise.. no thanks. I know some people love them and SLI is less buggy than CF, but still...

I think more people would be interested in a gtx 670 launch today than a gtx 690 launch.

Thank you AMD for "go premium". Launch price of the GTX590 was $699. Now we are at $999...

And it only took someone 15 minutes to blame AMD for NV's pricing! ITS A NEW WORLD RECORD!

No, blaming AMD for the pricing is old. We now see the result of their overpriced and underperforming "Next-Gen" Chip.

well AMD raised their prices at the same or more than they raised their performance. so yes for this round of cards AMD set the bar ridiculously low allowing Nvidia to also do us no real favors. well at least we did get more performance at the same price from Nvidia which is something AMD could not even do as they actually gave less on the 7970 compared to 6970. I will never understand why anybody would defend those ridiculous AMD launch prices when looking at it from the consumers point of view.

People are raising pitchforks during the live streaming of the event right now...LOL... they were expecting HL3 and GTX 670 and not the $999 pricing along with a bombardment of Chinese commercials..

hooooooly [moly]

Nvidia, you are screwing yourselves badly. Yes people will buy, and I was in the market (after selling my 560 Ti SLI config if this panned out) for a BigK release around $700.
But this? LOL hell no

I still prefer Nvidia hardware/drivers (as slow as they are with multimonitor support, I still prefer the end results)... if AMD ever steps up their game, I might have to switch.

This setup will do, but I'd love to hop to a single card that outperforms this SLI setup for triple-monitor surround, and allows higher graphical settings.
Guess I'll be waiting another generation after all. Seems about right - I tend to upgrade every other generation it seems.

No profanity in the tech forums please

$1000.... lawl. [forget] that.

Thanks AMD. Your price premium on the 7970 carried right through, we are paying 40% more across the board, just like I said we would back in January.

Still no profanity in the tech forums, guys
