Do you mean like you can't just add a 256-bit bus on gf104?

What?

fullGF104.jpg

GF104 has 4 memory controllers, one is disabled to give 192-bit on the 768MB version, all 4 are enabled on the 1GB version.
Considering GF106 is basically supposed to be half a GF104, it would be weird if they had 4 memory controllers and disabled 2, and even weirder if they had 3 and disabled one on the only card being made at the moment with that core.

I'm not quite sure what point your comment was trying to make.

Im surprised he isn't on your ignore list yet. And Yes, they need to fix that people who are on your ignore list have their post show up when some one quotes them.

That's why I haven't bothered to put in on ignore yet, plus gives me satisfaction every time that he stop responding in a thread and runs away when he's proved wrong.

You mean the same POS 5870 that got stomped by the old GTX295. LOL!

You do put your foot in your mouth a lot.

Dual GPU solutions don't count, remember? Or is it only NV dual GPU solutions which count?

They count in Evo's world apparently. One could say that 460 SLI is better than a 5970 and much cheaper. I know he's just trolling another NVIDIA thread, but it's funny to watch him dig a deeper hole for himself.

um what??? the gf106 only has a max possible bus of 128 because of the number of memory controllers while gf104 has a max of 256bit.

EDIT: I see Lonyo already gave you an answer.

Looks like the 6770 will just be a rebadged 5770. So the 450 should be just fine.

You are good even for a cheap laugh :awe:

"What the hell is going to happen with the GTS450 price when it launches at the start of next week – moments after the hugely popular GTX460 drops $30?"

Hi GTS 450, good bye GTS 450, you won't be missed.

RIP nVidia - 1993-2012 - Struggled to be competitive, but too late to resucitate a dead man walking... Internal bleeding of millions was too much for you, hopefully someone better will rise from your ashes...

The gtx460 1gb is gonna be 160$? The gtx460 768? $140? Thats great news. So where is the gts455 gonna fit, 120$? and the gts450 at $100? Sounds like lower prices and more performance for all of us. :)

Got a link?

Thank you that cleared up my confusion! I did not know that gf106 was literally half of "everything" gf104 is.

Either way, it sounds like they are in trouble and scrambling.
yeah because Nvidia had such great success with Fermi? aside from the gtx460, Nvidia is a joke with their hot running, high power consuming and loud pos 480/470/465 gpus. gee what ever happened to their 512sp card even after being 6 months late? lol

you are such a laughing stock around here. the only reason more people don't tear into you is because you are on their ignore list. lol

LOL, the best answer for such trolling is just below this link...

Thanks I missed that.

Quote from article...

"With the GTX460 in full flow, sales have been good. One look at the Steam Powered Status Survey tells you that the GTX is moving fast through the channel. KitGuru understands that massive orders for GTX460 were placed over the past 3 weeks, but nVidia’s biggest and most loyal customers."

It's good to have millions in the bank. Gtx 460"s are selling like hotcakes but they are still lowering prices? How? WHy? Marketshare? another card comming? GTX475 I hope and cheap!

Nvidia hasn't even gotten all their 400 series cards out the door yet and ATI already has revisions on the way. lol. Nvidia would be getting an even more serious ass kicking if TSMC had not failed on 32nm.

and what is this nonsense about ATI rebadged cards? many of the Nvidia 9000, 200 and nearly all 300 series are just rebadges and we never got any proper 300 series cards anyway.

They probably aren't selling quite as well as Nvidia wanted, but it kind of makes sense to drop the price ahead of the 6770 because *if* the 6770 does have a good price/performance ratio, it'll directly compete with the same target audience that the gtx460 is after. So drop the price now and get more sales from people that would otherwise want to wait rather than taking the risk of allowing the consumers to choose between their product and the competition's product.

EDIT:

If this *is* true then hmmmmmmm.... A gtx460 768mb card for $170, a gtx460 1 gig for $190-200. This would give Nvidia plenty of pricing room to release a gtx475 at the same time as the 6770 to rain on AMD's 6x00 debut.

But at the same link, look what they say:

"Unfortunately, the GeForce GTX 460 hasn't been as much of a hit as expected, with supply outstripping demand. As a result, prices for the already bargain priced GTX 460 are dropping across the board. The GTX 460 768 MB, previously priced at $200, can now be had for as little as $180. The GTX 460 1 GB, has also dropped to $220."

I don't call a full speed when only one of the Fermi SKU's are selling well enough, GTX 465, 470 and 480 are far from being sucessful for nVidia. And now that AMD has a new generation around the corner, I would be worried If I were nVidia, but I'm worry myself, I think that the era of getting nice performing cards for cheap (RV770 vs GT200 era) are long gone, D:

From STEAMs August 2010 survey (DX-11 video Cards), HD5700 series took a 3.4% dive and HD5800 series took a 3.28% dive since July. GTX 460 is hovering at 3.43% taking a plus 2.86% from only one month (August) and GTX 470 and 480 they shaw an increase too. It seams Gamers don’t buy HD5800 and HD5700 any more and they prefer GTX400 series.

http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/

GF106 could be a 240-288 Cuda Core part, 5 or 6 SMs of 48 Cuda Cores and 192-bit Memory Controller.

GTS450 is half the GTX460 1GB but GF106 die size is 240mm witch is much larger than half of 360mm GF104. As with GTX460 and GF104, I believe GTS450 will be followed by a GTS455 with a full GF106 core.

What is really shown there is AMD dominating the DX11 video card market. The current installed base of DX11 video cards, which is basically the only type of consumer level product being sold to the gaming market currently:

AMD - 87.01%
Nvidia - 12.79%

AMD has almost 90% of the market.

Expect AMD to continue this trend as well. The 6 series starts to roll out next month and AMD will continue to establish themselves with the superior DX11 cards as they bring second generation DX11 cards while nvidia is still only going to be offering old tech, first gen, lower performing cards.

the only thing we can interpolate from those results is that other DX11 cards are being adopted faster than the 5700s and 5800s (if we look at the overall video cards and not just DX11, the 5700/5800s are actually in the plus). It wasn't just the 400 series that climbed, but ATI actually had more of their own cards climb.

and if we analyze the trends, the 470s and 480s are dropping off in adoption rate and will soon be in the negative like the 5700/5800s. And considering the 460 just came out in July, it really had nowhere to go but up.

However I'm not sure what this had to do with the original topic, it really would be nice if we could keep things on topic instead of this foolish crusading.

We know ATI have most of the DX-11 market share but they constantly losing market share, they lost 4.19% in August from 4 GTX400 cards and the trend will continue all the way till December with the release of GF106 next week and DX-11 mobile parts all in the Back to School timing. Yes HD6xxx will be nice but it will be too late in 2010 to make a difference in market share.
