I am building my first system.

I mostly play adventure and some action games

Which card would last longer until I need to upgrade, to play the latest games. Most games I look at say minimum RAM requirements, not minimum video card speed. So wouldn't a NVidia MX 64 MB card give me longer usable life than a GTS card.

My 2 Choices
1 Nvidia GTS 32 MB DDR RAM

2 Nvidia MX with 64 MB SDRAM

OTHER COMPONENTS

IWILL KK266 Motherboard

Thunderbird 900

Micron CAS 2 256 MB RAM

ASUS DVD

Fong Kai 603 Case
with 250 Watt Fong Kai PS

DUAL BOOT
WIN 2000 PRO
WIN 95

My personal opinion is to wait (if you can) for the GeForce3. All of the games for 2002 are being made for it and you'll end up upgrading anyhow.

My other advice is to dual boot 2k and 98SE if you really need a 9x Operating System. 95 is a piss poor OS (it was good in it's time) and it needs so many patches that it's really rather worthless. 98SE is much more stable.

Just my opinion.

When it says "xxx RAM" on a game box, its most certainly referring to the system RAM, not the amount of memory on your vid card.

A GTS would be a far better choice.

As for the GF3, its doubtful you'll see a need to upgrade to it unless you're one those people who just have to have the best of everything for no particular reason.
