Nvidia GPU comparison

Are the prices for Nvidia 7-series Video cards lagging behind with the new 8-series out?

What would be the better value, a 7950 GS2 for $490 (lowest price I found) or an 8800 GTS for the same price ($490)?

Does the highest-end 7-series card have any advantages over the lower end 8-series card? (not that it's low-end in any way).

Thanks for the help!

NO advatanges at all. In performance a GTS is relatively similiar to GX2 performance, but the GTS is faster overall, especially in oblivion and other shader heavy games.

In IQ, the 7950GX2 and matter of fact the entire 7 series cannot match. They get completely blown out of the water by the 8 series.

7950GX2s and the 7900GTX is out of production. These are replaced by 8800GTX and GTS. The next card from the 8800GTS is the 7950GT.

With nine G80 SKUs coming to us, theres no point in buying 7 series because it does not offer anything except maybe heat and power consuumption.

Hopefully once a next 8 series card comes out (8850 maybe?) the crazy prices will go down...

Just bought an EVGA 8800GTS for $470 with a $20-$30 game inside, which makes it $440-$450.

The 8800s are already below MSRP in some places, and prices will probably continue to drop slowly as is typical after a video card launch. I wouldn't expect a refresh for a few months however.

damn, I really hope 8600gt will come out soon, not a fan of big card with extra power plug and high heat and price tag. 7600gt has been serving me great so far, really have very high hope for 8600gt or 8700gt, even if it's 8800 cuts in half, it's still yummy

No, that makes it $470 with a free game... Unless you sold the game for $20~$30.
