Nvidia GF4 4200 release date?

Has anybody heard when production cards of the GF4 4200 are supposed to hit the shelves?

My budget doesn't have much room for the 4600 or the 4400. But I am looking at upgrading soon. From what I'm hearing about the 4200, it might fit the bill nicely.

Any release coming soon?

It's supposed to be coming out end of this month but it looks like it will come out end of next month. I was waiting for this too but I had to order last week so no geforce 4 for me.

Who know when it will actually arrive in stores. It reminds me a lot of the Thoroubred. I suspect that it won't be in high supply 'till the end of next month.

could be any date now - there has been no official release date. but from the chatting going around in these forums, i dont think they are going to stay on the shelves to long. once they release the first batch i bet they will be gone quickly.

I think you will see the 4200 when the sales curve on the 4400 starts dropping sharply. Then they will magically start production.

Ironically, that is when I will be able to consider (afford) the 4400. The good news is that the 4200 will sell for well under $150 then.

Of coarse the rumor mill will be generating the GF5 (or whatever they call it) then.

Great marketing by NVidia. It always seems they can squeeze that extra $30 or so, out of you. Damn them! They won't allow me to save me from myself!

i agree, but its not marketing - its economics. sorry for being anal, but i'd hate for people to give marketing guys that much credit

hmm..that company on pricewatch with the 4200 now has an eta of mid to late may instead of late april/early may. this waiting is killing me.

If they don't hit the shelves FAST I'll buy a Radeon 8500 and still be pretty happy with it. Of course I'd like a GeForce4 but I can't justify paying the premium for the 4400 over the Radeon since it's so cheap right now.

Zukatah, i couldn't wait anymore...ordered a 8500 this morning. best price/performance right now, and i don't want to wait another month. plus..i don't think i'll notice too much of a difference over the 4200 unless i go into really high res.

I'll buy my new system in 2-3 weeks so they better get it out really fast. I play mostly Flight sims and racing games so really high FPS isn't that important but quality is. I wanted to buy that 4200 to be able to play with AA so my games would look gorgeous but the Radeon has been out for sometimes now, the drivers seems to be good and it offers good performance.

I can go out and buy my stuff tomorrow butg I prefer to wait a little bit so I can make a clear decision and buy that Performance Plus Antec case (geez they seem to take forever to arrive in Montreal in my local shops).

It will be a nice improvement over my TNT2 Ultra for sure isgust

Zukatah...actually, a couple more 4200s appeared on pricewatch...your 2-3 week timing will probably be perfect. those new 4200s on pricewatch have an eta of 5-2-02! just my luck...

There's a thread on Hot Deals about the 4200. The 64mb with DVI and whatnot is coming out at $177 on May 5 (if I remember correctly...).
