nVidia getting in on the TV-tuner market

Was checking out eVGA.com when I saw on their home page NVTV?

Looks like nVidia is making a dedicated TV-tuner (as in non-personal cinema).

They have hardware encoding, and the one even has dual tuners (with dual hardware encoding it seems as well).

Looks nice ... I saw this about a week ago when I was reading the review about Windows XP MCE 2005 ... expecially the dual tuner in one board ... 😀 this would be great ... though unfortunately there is no exact timeframe as to when it will be available ... or MSRP ... I would guess that this would be a great competition to the Hauppauge PVR's ...

I would be really excited if it was priced under $90 or so.

Maybe NV will build a mobo chipset/reference design, that includes an integrated tuner and hardware video encoder/decoder? That would be sweet for the HTPC people.

Im normally an nvidia fanboi so dont bash me too hard for saying this 🙂 :

Its probably a blank board, theyll tell you the encoders are coming with drivers, then theyll release the real card later, much cheaper, and tell you the functionality wasnt enabled on the original boards.

If your NVTV box says "Saltine" on the side and doesnt fit in the PCI slot well, they got us again.

I just want someone to create TVout that doesnt suck.

Is that so much to ask?

The TV out on my 9700 Pro is, IMO, pretty good. What is wrong with it?

AIW? What brand?

Ive run 6 different TVout cards and they all look washed out. (on both S-video and RCA inputs).
