NVIDIA GeForce 745M problems on laptop

I use my Asus Q550L laptop which I bought in 2014 in the month of October. It came with the NVIDIA GeForce 745M. It had Windows 8 pre-installed. I upgraded to windows 8.1 the same day that is after, I installed all available windows updates leaving the 8.1 update for last.

On July or August I was getting fed up, with waiting on line when they send you the update, so I used the "windows media creation tool" that Microsoft had on their site to install Windows 10. Surprisingly the day after the upgrade, I got a notification that Windows 10 was available for my laptop.

Now starting from sometime in February, of this year I am having an issue where I am unable to configure how I want to use the graphics card. What I mean is that every time I try to open the NVIDIA Control Panel, it gives an error saying, "this application configuration failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more info.

When I went to device manager to see the driver, it says that the driver has a digital signer as: "Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher". In this case why is it not working? From the date of the driver upgrade it seems to match the time around which it stopped working.

Is anybody having these problems? If so has anyone found a solution yet?
