Looks like more and more companies are starting to sell the GeForce2 GTS for the $150 range. This was posted by wakko in the Hot Deals forum:
Nvidia geforce 2 gts 32 MB DDR ram for $150

Since all GeForce2 GTS cards run within a couple percent of each other, it doesn't really matter which card you get, except if you want a fancy software bundle or hardware add ons like TV out.

You also might want to visit ubid regularly. I picked up a GeForce2 GTS for $144 3 weeks ago. But, since it is auction based, you need to check back often to get a good low bid price.

i'm seeing quite a bit of price drops around these days on the GTS cards.

Why?

It's not like the Ultra or even the Pro are price competitive to begin with?

Awesome. I was thinking about holding out because if I was to get a GTS now, it would seem kind of out-dated already since there is the Ultra out. Robotech brought up a good point though. Even when the NV20 finally comes out, how much is the Ultra going to drop? Not much since the 200mhz DDR ram costs a lot anyway and the NV20 is going to use that or something a bit faster anyway right?

I may have to get a GTS soon afterall.

Actually Robo, what I am hearing is the Pro WILL replace the GTS pricepoint in the near pre-christmas time period. MX's will be able to be had for as low as $70(probably DDR boards though). Ultra's will of course drop also. Did you honestly expect the Ultra to continue to cost $450 when the NV20 comes out like the rediculous rumors going around($700 and the like)?

After Christmas I don't really know since there are no solid launch dates. We're going to be seeing some interesting competition early next year. But IMO its likely we will not see any DX8 cards shipping before the end of the year. I think the NV20 has the highest chance of being announced at the end of december, but thats still pretty slim. Rampage should be mid-late Q1, G800 is unknown, however it is delayed somewhat. And the Radeon II is going to be a Spring unit for any quantity. 3dfx seems to be holding the Rampage pretty close to their chest, it may be a mistake to try and go so far from the VSA-100 fiasco that they loose pre-launch hype.

But remember its not like any of the companies don't know about their competitors products. Let me clarify, I don't think we'll see any company surprise another company with some new revolutionary product that will knock everyone else down a ring and instantly promote that company(whoever) to leadership status. The closest we got to that after the V2 was the Geforce IMO, and even then at launch except for maybe Q3 the Geforce wasn't significantly faster then the competition.
